A delayed flight is stressful enough. The last thing you need is a transfer company that cancels on you or charges you for waiting. Here is exactly what happens to your GetYourRide transfer when your flight is delayed — and what EU Regulation 261/2004 owes you while you wait.
What happens to your transfer when your flight is delayed?
From the moment you book, your reservation is linked to your flight number. Our dispatch monitors it continuously. When the airline pushes your arrival back, your pickup time moves with it — automatically, at no cost, with no action required from you.
Your driver is briefed with the new landing time, stays positioned near the airport, and meets you at the arrivals hall with a name sign, whether you land at 2 PM or 2 AM.
✅ The GetYourRide delayed-flight guarantee
Real-time flight tracking · 60 minutes free waiting after landing · fixed price locked at booking · re-booking free if your flight is cancelled or re-routed.
Real-time flight tracking: how it works
We follow your flight the same way airlines do — live status feeds, not guesswork. A 40-minute delay at departure becomes an adjusted pickup at LYS without you lifting a finger. If you want extra peace of mind, message us your new arrival time on WhatsApp and you'll get a driver confirmation back within minutes.
60 minutes free waiting — no meter running
Unlike a street taxi whose meter runs while you wait for luggage, your GetYourRide price is fixed at booking. You get 60 minutes free after wheels-down to clear immigration and collect bags. Delayed 90 minutes? Message us — we re-arrange free of charge.
Flight delayed 3+ hours? Your EU261 compensation rights
If you depart from an EU airport (or fly an EU carrier into the EU) and arrive 3 hours or more late, Regulation 261/2004 can entitle you to compensation — on top of meals, refreshments and a hotel if you're stuck overnight:
| Flight distance | Delay on arrival | Compensation |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 1,500 km | 3h+ | €250 |
| 1,500 – 3,500 km | 3h+ | €400 |
| Over 3,500 km | 3h+ | €600* |
*May be reduced to €300 if the delay is under 4 hours. Not applicable in extraordinary circumstances (weather, ATC strikes). Keep all receipts — the airline must also provide care during the wait.
